The Delhi University’s Combined Aptitude Test for English (CATE) from this year will conducted by a private firm. CATE is conducted for admission to English (honours) in various DU colleges and last year it was able to attract around 10,000 applications.
Tapan Basu, CATE, coordinator added that even last year a private firm was engaged to help them with the exams, but this year the firm will also be responsible for selecting examination centers. The department will set the question papers and will also correct them, other than this all the activities will be carried out by the firm.
The department has already started receiving tenders and will decide upon a firm by next week and the specific details about the test such as date and centers will be decided upon after the firm gets finalized, said Basu.
The Varsity has invited three tenders for the exam. The first tender is for firms to design, print, deliver and collect application forms and admit cards. The second is for designing and printing question and conducting tests while the third tender is for the preparation of the result.
